What I Wore, 2023 - Images and styling by Ryne Norton.

This year was all about consistency. I found comfort in my uniform. I re-wore my favorite pieces constantly. I rotated in new pieces that became staples. I found pattern - a wide leg pant, a mary-jane shoe, a striped top. I wore blues, browns, reds, a lot of black and a pop of green. I knew what to wear.

When I didn’t know what to wear, I focused on the bag, the shoe, and sometimes the hat to do the heavy lifting. A good shoe and a great bag goes a long way.

The Bags

My four essential bags I carried everyday. From left: Fendi Spy Bag, Prada Nylon Tote w/ Sandy Liang corsage, YSL Mombasa, Balenciaga City Bag.

The Shoes

The shoes I wore the most. From left: Unbranded mule loafer from Marshall’s, Dr. Martens slingback that broke on my way to work so I cut into a mule, red Hokas (not sure of model), Jil Sander mary-jane loafer, Sandy Liang x Salomon Xt-6, Comme des Garcons x Salomon mary-janes.

The Hats

I don’t know why all of my hats are red and green, but I’m not mad about it.

As a final note, I will leave you with my favorite wardrobe decision this year: I invested in rain wear that makes me happy. In a place like New York City (this is not for LA friends), the perfect raincoat, rain hat, rain boots and any other rain equipment is not only guaranteed to brighten any rainy day, but will award you many compliments from strangers and friends. Consider this my challenge to you for 2024.
